Racing Victoria

On 19 December 2001, RVL assumed the functions and responsibilities as the new Principal Club (now known as the Principal Racing Authority) governing thoroughbred racing in Victoria. This coincided with the commencement of the Racing (Racing Victoria Ltd) Act 2001. RVL's Member Shareholders consist of Country Racing Victoria Inc (CRV), Melbourne Racing Club Inc (Melb RC), Moonee Valley Racing Club Inc (MVRC) and Victoria Racing Club (VRC), along with the Thoroughbred Racehorse Owners Association (TROA), Thoroughbred Breeders Vic (TBV), Australian Trainers Association (Victorian Branch) (ATA), Victorian Jockeys Association (VJA), Australian Jumps Racing Association (AJRA), Victorian Bookmakers Association (VBA), and unions representing the Australian Liquor Hospitality and Miscellaneous Workers' Union (Vic Branch) (LHMU), Australian Services Union (Vic Branch) (ASU), Australian Workers' Union (Vic Branch) (AWU), Media, Arts & Entertainment Alliance (MEAA). RISA - Racing Information Services Australia

RISA's primary objective is the encouragement and promotion of horse races by establishing and conducting a national consolidated racing information services business to service the Australian horse racing industry and other users of horse racing information. Racing Materials readily available on their website include Race Nominations, Weights, Fields, Form, Trials, Scratchings, Form, Results and Stewards reports. RISA provides a number of integrated products and services to the industry including principal racing authorities, race clubs, owners, trainers, breeders, jockeys and punters.

Inglis

William Inglis & Son Ltd stages a busy schedule of thoroughbred auctions during the year, covering all aspects of the breeding and racing industry, from weanlings and yearlings, through to broodmares, stallions and tried racehorses. Most auctions are held at Newmarket, Sydney and Oaklands Junction, Melbourne, with Inglis also conducting a yearling sale and broodmare sale at Scone, and the Red Centre Yearling Sale in Alice Springs. Other services offered by Inglis include: bloodstock insurance, lease finance, bloodstock valuations, private sales, stallion shares and nominations, catalogue style pedigrees and travel arrangements for clients.

Victoria Racing Club

TROA and Luxbet sponsor the Winter Championship Series, with three heats and the final being held at Flemington racecourse. Victoria Racing Club host all meetings at Flemington racecourse, the home of the famous Melbourne Cup, run on the first Tuesday of November and week long Melbourne Cup Carnival.

Country Racing Victoria

TROA sponsor the Winter Championship Series of which 4 heats are held at Victorian provincial racecourses.

Country Racing Victoria is responsible for the profitable conduct, management, planning and development of non-metropolitan racing in Victoria. A registered company pursuant to the Corporations Act comprising of a Board of 10 Directors, Country Racing Victoria represents 48 professional clubs ranging from large clubs in the outer metropolitan areas of Melbourne such as Werribee, Cranbourne and Mornington to small clubs in rural areas such as Edenhope, Manangatang and Towong.

Country Racing Victoria Ltd. resumed the responsibility for the management of Picnic Racing on the 1st August 2005. There are 14 picnic race clubs conducting 33 meetings in the period November to mid-April. Picnic meetings are conducted regularly at venues such as Healesville and Woolamai, as well as unique annual meetings in regions such as the high country over the long weekend of March, when Omeo and Swifts Creek share the billing.

Radio Sport National

Radio Sport National (ex Sport 927) is the network of racing and sport radio stations across the state of Victoria in the south-east of Australia, also reaching into Tasmania through Tote Sport Radio, and into Canberra through Radio ACTTAB. The National Racing Network broadcasts around 6,000 TAB thoroughbred, harness and greyhound meetings nationwide on an annual basis. The race broadcasts are complemented by a plethora of analytical racing programs all designed to help punters pick winners. Including Racing Ahead & The Thoroughbred with Shane Anderson, Winners with Nadia Horne, Prime Time Sports Interactive, Prime Time Racing with Matt Stewart & Keith Hillier and Correct Weight with Matt Stewart and Adam Hamilton.
