Tanya Fullarton
POSITION: Commercial Manager – Racing, The Slattery Media Group
Tanya has been involved in the racing and bloodstock industry her entire life. You could say it is in the bloodlines. Tanya commenced with The Slattery Media Group in January 2008, to manage the racing portfolio. That includes Inside Racing magazine, Racing Victoria’s official publication, The Story of the Melbourne Cup, Gai – In My Words, and manage a range of custom publishing and digital work on behalf of racing clientele.
From 2005 to 2008, Tanya held the role of Chief Executive Officer of the Sirecam Group Pty Ltd, Tanya formed a strong relationship with the bloodstock industry with Sirecam becoming the primary provider of bloodstock videos for bloodstock sales companies and stud farms.
Tanya previously had eight years experience at Racing Victoria in marketing, sponsorship, events, tourism and advertising in particular with the Owners, Breeders and Racing departments.
In addition to work commitments, Tanya has a strong background knowledge through her father who is a hobby trainer and breeder, and grandfather Alec Fullarton who was inducted into the Jumps Halll of Fame with achievements as a jockey, trainer and owner from 1916 to 1964. Tanya’s extensive experience with owners, breeders, trainers, racing administration and media makes her a welcome addition to the TROA Board.
OWNERSHIP EXPERIENCE Tanya has successfully raced horses with family and formed racehorse syndicates with friends and work colleagues. The most successful being Permaiscuous with David Hayes, 45 women and male mascot Shane Crawford. Permaiscuous raised money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, and on the way won the Carbine Club Stakes-G3 on Derby Day.
Horses raced recently include Penki Material, The Penski File, Pixie Stick, Devil You Know, Coastal Music, Burning Platform, Wee Miss Jack, Zsa Zsa Gabeel, and Nisha with trainers Andrew Noblet, David Hayes, Robbie Griffiths, Alicia Macpherson, John Wheeler, Mat Ellerton, and Tony Vasil. The most memorable moment was Mothers Day 1998, when her 88-year-old grandmothers $350 yearling purchase Galaxy Jack, won in a photo in the last stride. All whilst watching on Channel 31 with her Grandmother. “My Nan didn’t stop shaking with excitement all afternoon”.
