The Premier of Victoria and Minister for Racing Dr Denis Napthine will open Flemington’s luxurious new Owners’ and Trainers’ Lounge on Turnbull Stakes Day this Saturday (5 October 2013).

Designed by award-winning architects Bates Smart, the spacious Owners’ and Trainers’ Lounge boasts a prime trackside location adjacent to the Mounting Yard with three times the capacity of the previous facility. Dr Napthine will cut a ribbon to the facility’s exclusive Winners’ Bar before the first race celebrations.

Owners and trainers with runners will have all-day access to the Lounge on Group 1 racedays, regardless of the number of races in which they have horses running. All Owners’ Gold Card holders without a runner will also have access to the Lounge on non-Group 1 racedays.

Owners with runners will be treated to two complimentary drinks, while all owners and trainers with access can enjoy catering throughout racedays.

“The VRC is proud to offer an improved and dedicated space for some of racing’s biggest supporters. We look forward to the Owners’ and Trainers’ Lounge becoming a hub of activity and celebration on raceday,” said VRC Chairman Michael Burn.

Perhaps the best known, and most envied, racehorse owners in Victoria are those who own Black Caviar. Her trainer Peter Moody and part owner Gary Wilkie will launch a new documentary DVD on the unbeaten mare’s career in the Lounge on Saturday. ‘Black Caviar – The horse of a lifetime’, produced with TVN and Racing Victoria, will be on sale from Black Caviar's website, and retailers from Monday (7 October).

The hour-long DVD features every one of Black Caviar’s 25 wins with commentary from trainer Peter Moody and jockey Luke Nolen, and offers an incredible inside look at her journey until retirement in April 2013, including the build-up to Royal Ascot.
